Metallic Series – Rails: How to replace the rail extrusions

Over time and with extensive use, the black plastic rail extrusions on your Metallic Series rower’s rails may crack or warp. Replacing the rail extrusions is a fairly straightforward task to perform.

The process is identical for any Metallic Series rower. Follow the steps below.

Step 1

Using a 3/16″ Allen key, unscrew the seat stops. There are 4 per rower — 2 near the footboard, and 2 near the rear end pad.

Step 2

Peel the old extrusions off the rails.

Step 3

Using rubbing alcohol, remove ALL any remaining adhesive residue.

Note: Do not use any other solvent as it may damage the paint.

Step 4

Once the rail surfaces are cleaned, attach the new extrusions one at a time.

To install, peel away the backing of the double-sided tape on the underside of the extrusion, then line up the seat stop holes in the extrusions with their corresponding holes in the rail.

Press evenly down the length of the extrusion to adhere it firmly and smoothly to the surface of the rail.

Step 5
